Tyias Browning ruled out for the rest of the season
Tyias Browning has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a groin injury during Sunderland's midweek defeat to Aston Villa.
Browning has since had a series of scans since he was forced to leave the field during the first half of Tuesday nights defeat, these scans have uncovered some serious damage to the groin of the Everton loanee.
Now with another defender forced to sit on the sidelines Chris Coleman is now facing a crisis ahead of Saturday's trip to QPR, as well as Browning, John O'Shea is now a major doubt for this weekend as he damaged his thigh during the midweek defeat.
Lamine Kone is the only natural central defender avalible ahead of the trip to QPR with Jake Clarke-Salter serving the final game of his three-match ban.
Defender, Marc Wilson has returened to training but is still far from being match fit.
“Tyias Browning will be out for the rest of the season with his groin. He’s done exactly the same as Darron Gibson, so that’s a blow.
“O’Shea is a doubt at the moment, so we’re probably looking at one natural centre-half in Lamine. Paddy (McNair) is still unavailable and Jake Clarke-Salter is suspended serving his last game.
“We have what we have, but we have to believe we can get a win. We’re restricted in certain areas, but we still have to believe.
“Marc Wilson has been out with his calf, but he’s been back training today. It wasn’t too hard a session, but he came through okay.
The weekend is a no-no, and probably the weekend after that, but if he keeps progressing, then in the next two or three weeks, he could be available.” Said Coleman.
Another selection dilemma for Coleman is that midfielder Darren Gibson is still expected to be on the sideline for anther three weeks, but it is looking likely for the midfielder to make his return before the end of the season.
“At best, Darron will be back in a month. That will be the best-case scenario. Three weeks to a month. Then Saturday to Saturday will be a big ask for him I think.” Said Coleman.
