Newcastle captain ridicules Manchester United
Newcastle picked up what may prove to a crucial win in their fight for survival as they managed to take all three points when second place Manchester United visited St James Park on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho left St James with a similar feeling to his previous trips, as the current Manchester United manager is still looking for his first ever win at St James.
It was Matt Richie who managed to secure all three points for The Magpies as Man United were made to rue their missed chances as they fell 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City.
However, after the game one Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles was very open when talking about his view on the match.
The Magpies captain beives that his sides performance was an intimidating approach which caused the Man United players to 'go missing' during Sunday's game.
Lascelles then carried on his verbal review of the Man United team he faced this past weekend.
"Man United have some world class players but it seemed like we just wanted it a lot more." said Lascelles.
"They have got some great players but I don't think Man U turned up. I don't think they were at it from the start of the game - a lot of their players went missing.
"It was probably the way we were playing, we made them play like that. In the first-half they were making a lot of mistakes, passing the ball around but it was down to our pressing.
"We were aggressive and they didn't like it. You could see their centre-halves on the ball and they didn't really know what to do with it."
Lascelles and his teammates will now have to move on quick and focus on their next game when they travel to Bournemouth and with the Magpies just two points above the relegation zone Newcastle need o focus and pick up some crucial wins over the final few weeks of the season.
