Get to know Mo

Last week Middlesbrough signed Bosnian international Muhamed Bešić on loan from Premier League side Everton.

I take a look Boro's new signing and see how he can help Middlesbrough in the clubs promotion push.

Bešić is renowned as a tough tackling midfielder and the 25 year old quickly became a fans favourite on Merseyside due to his passion and desire.

In his first season at Everton the defensive midfielder played 31 games in all competitions for the Toffees as the club finished 11th in the Premier League, as well as getting to the round of 16 in the Europa League as they were knocked out 6-4 on aggregate against Dynamo Kyiv.

However, Bešić's second season for the Evertonians was plagued by injuries which limited his playing time as he only played 17 games in all competitions.

Despite all the injuries he did manage to win Everton's Player of the Month for January and also extended his contract until 2021 in that season.

The following season in August 2016, Bešić was ruled out for about six month as he tore anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, as a result of this the German born midfielder missed the entire 2016-17 season.

So far this season Bešić has played eight times for Everton and the loan to Middlesbrough is the right move for the 25 year old as he looks to develop as player.

Bešić has been in and around the Bosnian international team ever since he was just 17 years old, making him the youngest player to ever play for the country at the time, since then he's gone on to be capped 28 times at senior level.

While talking to the Middlesbrough official website Bešić admitted that Boro manager, Tony Pulis, was a major pull factor for him when signing for Boro, he said:

“I think he’s a fantastic coach,

“We spoke on the phone a couple of days ago and I decided to come here. From what I’ve seen it’s a big club and it’s a good opportunity for me.

“I could have gone elsewhere but I decided to stay in England and because of Tony Pulis I came here.

“I want to prove to the manager that it was the right decision to take me and I want to bring the football club forward."

The Bosnian international also had praise for the Middlesbrough home fans as he told MFC official:

“We played two seasons ago in the League Cup against Middlesbrough," he said.

"I remember that day and how good the atmosphere was."

With the signing of Bešić, Pulis now has another experienced Premier League player to add to his squad, something which can only be a positive as Middlesbrough look to push for the play-offs.

Bešić will be pushing for a start on Saturday as Boro take on Reading at The Riverside Stadium.
