Sunderland youngster being tracked by Scottish giants

A current Sunderland youngster looks like he will be committing his future to Wearside after it has emerged the Black Cats will offer him a new deal.

The Championship strugglers will offer the Houghton le Spring youngster Ethan Robson a contract which will see him stay at the Stadium of Light beyond this summer.

Robson who has progressed through the youth system at the Stadium of Light, has so far been key for Chris Coleman as he looks at youth to get the Black Cats away from the dreaded drop.

Despite interest from Celtic and Rangers, Sunderland have stated there is no rush for Robson to commit his future to Wearside, although it wouldn’t be a surprise that the Black Cats would want Robson to continue in Wearside beyond this summer.

An article in last weekend’s Sun suggested that Old Firm rivals will fight to grab the signature from the midfielder, only having to pay £150,000 in compensation if he was to leave England in the summer.

So far, this season Robson has started brightly under Coleman, showing fight in Sunderland’s FA Cup exit to rivals Middlesbrough, the 21 year-old continuing his form against Hull where Sunderland were victorious over Nigel Adkins men.

With Sunderland full of injuries, Robson will continue to get his chance on Wearside.

Who knows we could even see scouts from Celtic and Rangers in the stands in the coming weeks eying up the talented 21-year old.
