Maidstone United vs Gateshead FA Trophy Preview

The Heed travel to the garden of England this weekend as they take on Maidstone United in the FA Trophy third round.
Gateshead are coming into this game on the back of a good 0-0 draw on Tuesday night this week at the Gateshead International Stadium with promotion chasing Wrexham.
Maidstone on the other hand are coming in to this cup fixture more well rested having not played since last Saturday, in an away fixture at Gateshead which the Heed came out victorious 2-1.

With a place up for grabs in the fourth round of the FA Trophy and a possible trip to Wembley still on the cards for both teams, Steve Watson should be encouraged to play a strong side in the competition.
Gateshead are currently sat in 14th and Maidstone currently sat in 16th both sides could decide to play weakened sides but with a comfortable 10 point gap above the relegation zone Watson really could use a win and a cup run to inspire fans and build momentum for the second half of the season.
I am going to make a prediction ahead of this weekend's cup clash, I think on the back of their first clean sheet in 14 games, a solid point at home on Tuesday night and with the confidence of beating Maidtsone just a week ago, this should be enough for the Heed to get through to the fourth round with a 2-0 win.
