Darlington 1883 vs Blyth Spartans Preview

Darlington will host local rivals Blyth Spartans this weekend at Blackwell Meadows in the National League North.

The Quakers will be looking to carry momentum from last week's spectacular 3-2 win over Leamington, in which they took all three points through a 90th minute winner to push their hopes of safety.

Five year veteran and current joint top goalscorer for the club Stephen Thompson scored a fine hat-trick, Thompson now has four goals in his last two games.

The win also moved them out of the relegation zone, swooping past Nuneaton Town and Curzon Ashton by goal difference to gain two places ahead of the drop zone.

Alun Armstrong's Blyth will be looking to avoid a third succesive league defeat in this one to spur on their ability to maintain a place in the play-offs.

They sit just three points above Bradford Park Avenue and in-form Stockport County at seventh place.

Both side's have already met this season, which saw Blyth win 3-1 at Croft Park after a second-half comeback, and with both teams having sights on securing important positions in the league, this local derby looks set be a fantastic fixture.
